The other popular non-linear editing systems found a good way around data throutput
problems called DISK ARRAYS. I am using a Media 100 system at its highest resolution
settings (e.i. 150kb per frame) which pushes the data rate over the 4MB/sec.
limitation of any 9Gig drives available on the market.  FWB, a machintosh developper
had come up with an extremly cost effective and efficient solution which allows you
to connect 2 hard drives on two separate SCSI buses and spread the recording data
equally onto the two drives thus doubling the theorical data rate of the used
drives. The system sees the two drives as one single drive. It cost around $300 with
software and necessary cables for installation in a Power Mac 8100 (which is built
with two SCSI buses). I am really amazed to now watch my 9Gig Seagate Elite drives
working quietly at around 2.5MB/sec. and still outputing the best component
broadcast quality video images I ever seen on any other system....

This is one major problem with Newtek is that they tend to overhype everyting...
